How parts work
On builds and home jobs, the parts are listed on the written quote before I order anything.
Anything with a maker's warranty is registered in your name, so that warranty is yours.
You're paying me for the work: picking the parts and ordering them, the build, the tuning, the testing, and someone local to call when something goes sideways.
Anyone can generate a parts list now. Fewer people can tell you why that memory kit won't run at its rated speed on that board, or what the cooler you picked will really do in a case with one intake fan. About ten years of builds is where that comes from. It's the difference between a parts list and a machine.
Prebuilt or custom?
Should I buy a prebuilt PC or have you build one?
If a prebuilt fits what you do and costs less than the parts plus my labor, buy the prebuilt. I'd rather tell you that than take the job. A custom build makes sense when you want specific parts, a quieter or cooler machine, room to upgrade later, or a workstation or server that has one job to do well. Either way, before you buy, look up the exact power supply, motherboard and memory. If the listing doesn't say, ask.
Repair and diagnosis
Machines that won't boot, run hot, crash under load, or have just gotten slow. Drive failures and data recovery attempts. Moving your files to a new machine. Upgrades that actually help, and a straight answer when the machine isn't worth the money.
If it still starts, back up anything you want to keep before service. If you can't, tell me before I start, and I can quote a backup first.

A look first, at no charge.
The first look is free: by appointment, one per household, in DeSoto, Cedar Hill, Duncanville, Lancaster, Dallas, Oak Cliff and Grand Prairie. Any work is quoted in writing before it starts.
The look covers seeing the problem and telling you what the fix costs. If finding the problem takes real bench time, that's $125 for the first hour and $95/hr after, quoted in writing before I start.
First, a five-minute phone call, so I know what to bring and you know who's coming. Then I come see it. If what you've got is a ten-minute fix you can do yourself, I'll show you and head out. You get a quote only if there's real work worth doing, and only if it fits what you need and want to spend.
